Lineart Preview - Vampire Hunter D

Still very much a work in progress - the final will be the full character, cape and all. It is turning out great, though! This is a fun character to draw. I started it on Adam's laptop after getting the pose in my head at a 24 hour cafe.

I started out sketching with a very painterly brush in Photoshop. I think that helped me get the idea out before focusing so much on the detail in just one spot, as I'm prone to doing.

Farmville is a fun little strategy point and click that doesn't require a lot of time. I've made a list of the actual cost and profit (and gold per hour) for myself because all the times and numbers get confusing after a while.

The game is still in beta, so they're still adjusting a lot - just use the equation at the end of this post if anything has changed, or e-mail me so I can update it! :)

Farmville uses 23 hour days.
Here is a quick 'conversion chart' to figure out how long something will take:

1 day (0.95 days) = 23 hours
2 days (1.91 days) = 46 hours
3 days (2.87 days) = 69 hours
4 days (3.83 days) = 92 hours
5 days (4.79 days) = 115 hours
6 days (5.75 days) = 138 hours
7 days (6.70 days) = 161 hours
8 days (7.66 days) = 184 hours

Example from the game:
You can buy strawberry seeds for 10 gold in Farmville. It costs 15 gold to prepare the land, and they will sell for 35 gold at the market. Strawberries take 4 hours to grow. How much gold do you make per hour by planting strawberries?
35 - (10+15) 35 - (25) 10

4 4 4

And 10 divided by 4 is 2.5 So, strawberries make 2.5 gold per hour.

(...you know, this would make a good math exercise for kids. Hah. ("You can have a facebook...if you do this math!") You can apply a lot of these things to real life, like cost per ounce at the grocery store. Also, the difference between net and gross (thanks, wikipedia!), etc...)
